November 2025 Spoonflower Design Challenge Brief: Vintage Florals

Here's what Spoonflower says:

“We want to see nostalgic sophistication and soft, gentle romance in hand-drawn or painterly florals, heritage motifs or heirloom blooms. Colors that have a slightly faded or aged effect are welcome. Think blush pinks, creamy whites, dusty blues, lavender and gentle yellows.”

Here’s a quick breakdown of what those terms mean:

Painterly Florals — Loose, expressive florals with visible brushstrokes and a hand-painted feel. Think of designs that look softly blended, layered, and full of natural movement rather than overly perfect or digital.

Heritage Motifs — Timeless patterns inspired by historic textiles — ornamental curves, graceful flourishes, and delicate linework that reflect the craftsmanship of traditional printing and embroidery.

Heirloom Blooms — Classic garden flowers like roses, peonies, ranunculus, and cosmos — the kinds of blooms that feel treasured, nostalgic, and beautifully timeless.
